One Ummah BD is the largest Muslim lifestyle brand in Bangladesh. The physical and online store offers the widest range of premium quality products in categories ranging from men’s T-shirts, hoodies, Panjabi perfume oils, and visor Caps to women’s Islamic dresses since 2016. 

Currently, One Ummah BD has 11 stores in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Comilla, and Khulna and produces premium products in their own factory. With a highly skilled workforce and high-quality raw materials, such as Ringspun Combed Compact 100% Cotton Fabric, they intend to capture a larger local market with their crafted products. They’re using an environment-friendly AZO-Free Print and Dying Process in their factory.

💡 Is the business Shariah-compliant?

The business model (selling men’s T-shirts, hoodies, panjabi, perfume oils, visor caps, and accessories) is Shariah-compliant.

However, according to our Shariah Advisors, biniyog.io and the investors will NOT be liable if the day-to-day operations of the business are not fully Shariah-compliant.

This is because investors will be going into a Murabaha (sale contract), not profit-sharing or partnership. Please find contract details in the “Contract” section below.

Mr. Samee Salehin Khan is the founder and CEO of One Ummah BD. After completing his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) he initiated different business projects. In the meantime he gained valuable diversified experience. Then he focused on e-commerce with knowledge in garments manufacturing. He has already created a strong brand name which is synonymous with muslim lifestyle in Bangladesh by taking strategic decisions within a short period of time. His leadership allows to apply shariah principles to run business to be successful in this world and also hereafter with his team. He always focuses on giving the best customer experience with the best products and services. He believes these value driven approaches help One Ummah BD to stay innovative.

The Contract

The investment is for a period of 9 months, from February 2024 to November 2024.

Projected ROI: 11.25

Projected ROI (annualized): 15% Annualized

Example: If someone invests BDT 100k in the project, he/she can expect to receive a total of BDT 111.25k by November ‘24

biniyog.io will be charging investors an 6.25% fee on their profits. Example: If an investor invests BDT 100k and makes a profit of 12k in 9 months, biniyog.io will charge 0.75k as a service fee. This means investors will be keeping 93.75% of the profits generated. The net ROI for the investors will be 11.25% for 9 months (15% annualized) after deducting biniyog.io’s fee.

  • Investors will go into a Murabaha agreement (sale contract) with One Ummah BD for purchasing fabrics and other accessories.
  • It will be a “buy-and-sell” process where investors will first buy the products through biniyog.io. One Ummah BD will then buy those items from investors on credit and pay the amount after 6 months.
  • biniyog.io will act as an agent for the investors and buy the products, take necessary ownership and risk of asset possession on their behalf, and then sell to One Ummah BD.
  • biniyog.io has proposed a price to One Ummah BD for the products after considering a minimum 12% profit on the actual cost of product procurement and One Ummah BD has agreed to it. Investors will be getting a net of 11.25% profit after deducting biniyog.io‘s service charge on investor profit.
  • Investors can expect to get their returns in 9 months

Investors appoint biniyog.io as an agent to deal on their behalf (Wakalah) and invest into the business through buy and sale of assets under a buy-and-sell (Bai Murabaha) agreement.

biniyog.io‘s Shariah advisors have approved the basis and application of this Murabahah contract.

  • Supply Chain Disruptions: Delays in product delivery are a common phenomenon in our country. This issue is often unavoidable due to heavy traffic, water-clogging, road construction work, etc. Consistent delays in delivery can jeopardize the company’s supply chain significantly.
    • One Ummah BD’s strategy: One Ummah BD uses local third-party delivery partners who have a good reputation for maintaining proper schedules of delivery all over the country. The business also has its tracking system which helps retail customers to track the status of their products.
  • Lower Central Control over different outlets: As One Ummah BD has operations in 6 different Districts of Bangladesh it raises some difficulties to monitor every outlet with the same effort. 
    • One Ummah’s Strategy: The business has full ownership of most of the shops which helps to keep full control of those outlets. The business has started to give out franchise shops but it has started only recently with strong monitoring by a dedicated team. 
  • Intense Market Competition: Several Bands in the market are selling Muslim lifestyle products and it has opened a new door for the brands to differentiate products and maximize profit by targeting the biggest community in Bangladesh. So, the number of new entrants is increasing rapidly. 
    • One Ummah’s Strategy: As one of the oldest Muslim lifestyle brands, One Ummah BD already has a good brand positioning and reputation among the customer base. To stay ahead of the competition, One Ummah BD keeps a close eye on consumer preferences and market trends and also invests to come up with unique and trendy designs and products. 
  • Fluctuation of Raw Materials Cost: Price hike of raw materials can affect the overall manufacturing cost resulting in a lower profit margin. 
    • One Ummah BD’s Strategy:  The business mostly procures raw materials locally. They are also able to enjoy special discounts in exchange for buying raw materials in bulk. 

biniyog.io has done in-house analyses of the projected returns of the business and they are expected to be able to repay on time considering their cash flow.

biniyog.io will buy the products on behalf of investors first and secure ownership. One Ummah BD would have the right to reject the products due to quality etc. The risk is expected to be minimal since One Ummah BD will choose the items before biniyog.io buys them.

This is a necessary risk to ensure Shariah compliance of the transaction.

One Ummah BD will share a personal guarantee security cheque and installment cheques with biniyog.io. Moreover, a guarantor will be introduced in the contract to add an extra layer of security for the investors.
